Bob Milloy - Head Coach
Coach Milloy started at Good Counsel in 2001. He has coached at Sherwood, Springbrook and Whitman. A graduate of St. John's High School, Bob started coaching at Little Flower School in 1961. Upon graduation from the University of Maryland, Coach Milloy became the Junior Varsity Football & Baseball Coach at DeMatha High School in 1967. From 1970 - 1973 Bob was the Head Coach at Whitman High School. Bob and his wife Susan have 3 children: Brendan, Robbie, and Kelley. The Milloy's live in Olney.
Tom Crowell - Offensive Coordinator
Tom started at Good Counsel in 2004. Previously, he was Head Coach at Sherwood, Line Coach at Springbrook and St. Johns, coaching a total of 38 years in high school. Tom is also the boys basketball coach at Springbrook. His most recent teams have achieved three consecutive Maryland State 4A Championships, 2008, 2009, 2010. He lives in the Olney area with wife Trish. They have three sons, one a graduate of GC and six grandchildren.
Don Rushing - Defensive Ends
Don graduated Archbishop John Carroll High School where he was a member of Catholic League All-Star team and All-Metropolitan Defensive End. He was on the University of Maryland Football team for three years and began his coaching career while student teaching. He coached football at Walt Whitman for 5 years, Springbrook for 17 years, and Sherwood for 9 years. Coach Rushing and his wife, Elaine, reside in Silver Spring and have three grown children - Christina, Donald and Christopher. He is looking forward to continuing the winning tradition at Good Counsel.
Bill Goodman - Defensive Coordinator
This will be Bills 31st year of coaching football. 13 were spent at Sherwood (two state titles), 10 at Seneca Valley (three state titles),and the past 8 at Good Counsel (3 WCAC championships).Upon graduating from The George Washington University Bill played two years of baseball for the Texas Rangers. He currently teaches math at Sherwood High School where he was the baseball coach for 13 seasons (two state titles). Bill and his wife of 33 years reside in Brookeville and have two children. Their daughter Casey (VT lacrosse class of 06) recently married this past summer and son Michael (Catholic University football/ baseball class of 08) works for Clark Construction
Steve Ghent - Linebackers
Steve Ghent has coached football for more then 30 years and has coached at Good Counsel over a decade. Steve starred as a football player at Frostburg State University earning defensive MVP honors in 1975.
At GC Steve serves has an assistant Girl's Lacrosse Coach as well as assists with the Strength and Conditioning Program at GC. Steve is married to Margaret Ghent and has three children who have all graduated from Good Counsel (Eddie '03, Eileen 07, Rebekah '08). Eddie graduated from Virginia Tech Eileen is a graduate of Rutgers University and currently is an assistant girls LAX coach at Monmouth University and Rebekah is a graduate of Catholic University
Tom McMahon - Wide Receivers
Tom has been coaching at Good Counsel since 2004. Before that he coached at Sherwood High School for 6 years, with a couple of trips to the State Finals. He rejoins Coach Milloy with one goal, to win the WCAC Championship. Tom resides in Olney with his wife Bonnie and children T.J. and Stephanie.
Kevin McFadden - Defensive Line
Kevin graduated from Montgomery Blair High School where he received honors as All-Metropolitan Linebacker in 1984. He then went on to the University of Cincinnati where he was Second Team All-American Defensive Tackle, 1989-1990. Kevin got his choice at the pro-level where he played one year with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Kevin has been coaching at Good Counsel since 2002. Before GC he coached St. Bernadetes in the Beltway League. In 2002, Kevin Coached GC's Junior Varsity defensive/offensive lines. Kevin now resides in Laurel Maryland with his wife, Lisa, and daughter Kaiya.
Tony Edwards - Offensive Line
Tony played football for the University of Maryland from 1981-1985 and began his coaching career in 1986 with stops at Wheaton, Watkins Mill, Magruder and Damascus. Tony has been an assistant coach on teams that have won 4 State titles 3 while coaching at Damascus and 1 at Watkins Mill. Tony lives in Damascus with his wife Charmaine and has two children Tony and Samantha, both are collegiate athletes; Tony at Bryant University - Football and Samantha at Shippensburg University - Volleyball
Will Flaherty - Running Backs and Defensive Backs Assistant
Will joined the coaching staff at Good Counsel in 2005 and has spent time as an assistant at St. Johns College High School, Landon and was an offensive intern at the University of Maryland under Head Coach Ralph Friedgen (The Fridge) during the 2008 season in which Maryland made a trip The Humanitarian Bowl in Boise, Idaho and coached during the 2009 season.
Will played football at St. Johns College High School and earned his degree from the University of Maryland.
Will was youth coach for former GC great and Florida Linebacker Jelani Jenkins and is a mentor to many of the past GC greats like Stefon Diggs, Louis Young, Caleb Porzel, Zach Dancel, EJ Scott, Wes Brown and many of the current GC players
Clay Goldston - Defensive Backs
Clay joined the Falcon's Staff in 2001 after eight seasons of coaching at his alma mater, Catholic University. He is a 1986 graduate of St. John's High School in Washington, DC. Clay and his wife, Kirstin, live in Wheaton with their daughters Sydney, Alexandra, and Campbell.
Pete Siarkas - Defensive Assistant
Coach Siarkas has been coaching Football and Wrestling for amost 20 years. He starting his coaching career as the wrestling coach at Sherwood and then was hired by Coach Milloy as head J.V. football coach. With Coach Oswald and Coach McMahon we complied a 26-1 record. Coach Siarkas has also coached at Einstein where he had the oppurtunity to be the offense and defense coordinator. Pete finished at Sherwood with 4 State apperances in 7 years and 1 State Championship. Pete was the defense coordinaor at sherwood last season where he also teaches Physical Education. Pete is married with wife Kathy and two sons Vasili (6) and Demetri (4). The Siarkas live in Olney.
Reggie Gooch - Defensive Backs
Reggie Gooch attended Good Counsel where he played for Coach Bob Milloy. Reggie earned 1st team all-county as a defensive back 1st team WCAC as well as honorable mention All Met as a quarterback. Following high school Reggie went to play for Salisbury State University, during his time at Salisbury University his team was nationally ranked and made it to the national playoffs played wand had the opportunity to play with Byron Westbrook who went on to play in the NFL. Reggie is joining the coaching staff as a defensive back coach.
Jeff Bateman - Special Teams
Jeff has been coaching at Good Counsel since 2000 as Assistant Special teams coach, Coach Bateman works with both place-kickers and punters on Varsity, JV and Freshman. He lives in Darnestown with his wife Susan and four children. His oldest is a 2003 Good Counsel Graduate, second oldest is is a 2005 Good Counsel Graduate and two future Falcons. He is a graduate of Walter Johnson HS in Bethesda and 1980 Graduate of the University of Maryland.
Brendan Milloy - Asst O-Line
Brendan has been coaching at Good Counsel since 2006. He was a starting tackle for Sherwood High School on the 1996 Maryland State Champion Team that was also #1 in the Washington area. He also played baseball at Sherwood.
Bernie Dancel - Assistant Coach
Bernie has been coaching at Good Counsel since 2007 and has been coaching football for over two decades. Bernie is the founder of the Columbia Ravens Youth Sports Organization and resides on the board of directors. Bernie is the founder and chairman of National Gridiron 365 which holds youth state football championships in the state of Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia these events are held at venues such as M&T Bank stadium and Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium on the campus of the University of Maryland.
Bernie has two sons Zach a GC graduate in 2011 and Tony. Zach is currently a safety for the Terps and helped lead GC to its first two WCAC Championships in 2009 and 2010
Skylar Saar - CSCS - Strength & Conditioning
Since 2004 coach Saar has been working as the Strength and Conditioning Coach at Good Counsel working with all the athletic teams. Skylar earned his undergraduate degree at James Madison University in Exercise Science in 2002. Before arriving at Good Counsel in 2004 he worked as a strength coach at JMU, The University of Maryland, The University of Minnesota, and The University of Texas at El Paso. Skylar served as a strength coach for the NCAA Men\'s Hockey National Championship team in 2003. He is currently working on his graduate degree in exercise science.
Mark Jankovitz - Athletic Director
Mark has been at Good Counsel for 34 years as a teacher, coach and Assistant Athletic Director. As the track coach at GC his teams won 15 Boys and Girls WCAC Championships and many of the runners were National Ranked with one athlete making the Olympic Team. In 1989 his Girls Track Team was the first GC team to win a Girl's WCAC Championship for the school. As a history teacher his class was featured on the ABC national evening news. In 1994 he was inducted into the Good Counsel Athletic Hall of Fame. Mark is a graduate of the University of Maryland and was on four Atlantic Coast Conference Championship teams and was named All ACC and invited to the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
Walter Rine - Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator
Walter has been coaching at Good Counsel since 2002. He is a graduate of St. John's College High School and the University of Maryland. He resides in Silver Spring with his wife, Rhonda and their son Michael. His eldest son attends Montana State University in Bozeman.
Rod Carr - Defensive Coordinator
Rod has been coaching at Good Counsel since 2003. Prior to that, he coached for the Wheaton Boys Club and also served as their football commissioner. He also coached for the Olney Boys and Girls Club. He played football under Coach Milloy at Springbrook High School. He completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Maryland. He lives in Silver Spring with his wife Suraya, and their 3 children - Darien, Elana, and Riani.
Wendell Bowman - Running Backs/Linebackers
Wendell graduated from Springbrook High School in 1984, where he played football under Coach Milloy. He has been coaching at Good Counsel for the past 5 years. His son A.J graduated from Good Counsel in 2010. He is now a sophomore at Saint Francis University on a full scholarship for football. His daughter Whitley is now a senior at Good Counsel who plays on the Varsity soccer team.
Tim Leahy - Wide Receivers/Defensive Backs
Tim attended GC from 1980 to 1983 and graduated from Northwood \'84. He graduated from Towson in \'89. He and his wife Helen live near Laytonsville and have three boys, Sean, Colin and Michael. Tim joined the GC staff in 2007. Prior to GC Tim spent 10 years coaching at Silver Spring/St. Bernadette youth football program.
Michael Green - Running Backs/Linebackers
Coach Green joined the Good Counsel staff in 2005. He coached Football and Lacrosse at St. Peter\'s for ten years. He lives in Olney with his wife Cindy and two boys, Joe a 2004 GC graduate who played on coach Milloy\'s first GC team. Coach Green also coaches LAX with his other son Kiki a 2008 GC graduate.
Brett Valenta - Offensive/Defensive Line
Brett has been coaching at Good Counsel since 2007. He played under Coach Milloy for two seasons at GC. He graduated in 2006. He also coached at Maplewood last season.
Mike Clark - WR/DB Coach
A graduate of Our Lady Of Good Counsel HS in 2000 Mike played football and baseball. Mike has been a football coach since 1998 most recently at St Peters in Olney. Mike resides in Olney with his wife Megan, who is a GC graduate in (\'03) and currently GC history teacher, and they have one son Liam.
Mike Conlon - RB/LB Coach
Mike Conlon graduated from Northwood HS in 1982 where he played OG and LB and was a captain his senior year. Mike coached youth football as an assistant and head coach at the Silver Spring Boys and Girls Club from 1983-1992 and in the Winfield youth program from 2000-2009 and was a part of 3 Carroll County football league championships.
Mike served as defensive coordinator for the Liberty HS freshmen team in 2010 and JV team in 2011. Mikes wife Therese live in Eldersburg, MD and have three children, Meaghan, Caitlin, and Bobby.
Andy Stefanelli - Head Coach
Andy has been coaching at Good Counsel since 2007. First, on the JV staff and now entering his fourth season as the freshman head coach. A graduate of GC class of '83. Graduated from Western Maryland College '87, where he played football for 4 years and was named team captain his junior and senior seasons. Has coached for 10 years in the Rockville Football League, and continues to coach and coordinate the Rockville Bears program as well as sit on the board of directors for the league. He and his wife Estelle reside in Rockville and have 5 children. Their oldest daughter, Carly, (GC '10) is a Junior at West Virginia and their two oldest son, Drew, (GC'12) is a freshman at Temple and a member of their football team. Perry is a Junior at GC and a member of the varsity football and lacrosse teams.
Jim Castonguay - Defensive Coordinator
Jim has been associated with GC football since 2001, as the scout and consultant for the varsity. In 2009 he joined the Freshman staff as the Defensive Coordinator. He continues this year in those positions. Jim previously coached football and taught History at Archbishop Carroll (his Alma Mater), Springbrook and Wootton High Schools from 1969 to 2000.
Dave Madaras - Line
Played H.S. football and graduated from Winston Churchill High School in 1979. Played two years of college football at Montgomery College in 1979 and 1980, and one year at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi. Left Delta State in 1982 and served as a United States Marine. Coached with the Linganore Urbana Youth Athletic Association in Frederick, Maryland for 7 years. Lives in Ijamsville with his wife Kim and three children; Mike, Sam and Olivia.
James Fangmeyer - Secondary
Played and graduated from GC in 1983 and University of Pennsylvania in 1987. Second Team Academic All-American Safety at Penn as a member of their undefeated Ivy League Championship Team. In 2009 I joined the staff at Good Counsel. I have over a decade in coaching youth football, currently with the RFL. I have eight wonderful children
J.D. Noell - Defensive Backs
Graduate of GC ('88) and Catholic University ('92). J.D. coached youth sports for 7 years including 4 years of youth football with the Rockville Bears of the RFL. He has been a member of the Good Counsel freshman coaching staff since 2009. He and his wife Jennifer reside in Silver Spring and have 2 children, Brittany (GC '12) and Nicholas (GC '14).
Sal Gorgone - Linebackers
Sal graduated from Altholton High School in '82 and was captain of the football team. He attended Montgomery College where he played football then transferred to University of Maryland in '84. Since 2002 he has coached football at OBCG and has been a Head Coach since 2006 and Co-Commissioner since 2007. Sal joined GC's staff in 2010 and also 2010 he was named Defensive Coordinator with the Grass Roots Spring League. Sal and his wife, Patrice, reside in Clarksville, MD with their two sons, Vincent and Anthony. Vincent is a football player at GC.
Tony Ashley - Wide Receivers
Coach Ashley graduated Utica Free Academy in upstate New York (1983) and Slippery Rock University of PA (1987), where he played 4 years of football. Tony has coached for the Columbia Ravens for the past since 2004 while serving on the Board as an Executive Member. Founded the Maryland Youth Indoor Football League, the largest indoor football league in the country where his copyrighted rules serve over 5,000 student athletes, nationwide. Serves on the board of many youth organization and is an active member of the Howard County Business Community where he resides with his wife Leslie and their three children (Drew, Tori and Alex)
Eric Allie - Running Backs
Eric joined the GC staff in 2010. He spent 9 years coaching youth football with the Montgomery Village Chiefs as a head coach and 5 years as the Assistant Commissioner for the program. Eric is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and a U.S. Navy Veteran. The Allie family resides in Gaithersburg, MD.
Kevin Collins - Defensive Line
Kevin Collins is a 1984 graduate of Good Counsel and holds a degree from the University of Maryland. He and his wife Quinn reside in Silver Spring with their four children Casey, Jake, Catie and Shea. Kevin's joined the GC staff in 2002 and has been coaching the WCAC since 1994.
Bob Clark - Offensive Assistant
Bob is a 1966 graduate of Good Counsel and joined the GC coaching staff in 1999 after 5 straight Super Bowls appearences as Offensive Coordinator for the Mustangs in the Rockville Football League. Bob retired as Chief - Financial Product Support for the Federal Judiciary and now is a consultant in Project Management, Cost Accounting/Management and Federal Financial Systems. Bob and his wife I-Ming live in Mt. Airy.
